SUBCHAPTER BFLAMMABLE LIQUIDS EQUIPMENT TESTING LABORATORY RULES
RULE §34.204Definitions

The following words and terms, when used in this chapter, shall have the following meanings, unless the context clearly indicates otherwise.

  (1) Certification mark--The mark owned, controlled, and registered by a testing laboratory and used to identify a certified product.

  (2) Certification program--A continuing product testing procedure that requires a specific product standard.

  (3) Commission--The Texas Commission on Fire Protection.

  (4) Flammable liquids equipment--Equipment used for the safe storage and handling of flammable liquids.

  (5) Primary standards--Recognized general performance standards which establish proper procedures and safeguards against loss of life and property by fire. Recognized primary standards are those established or approved by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Batterymarch Park, Quincy, Massachusetts 02269.

  (6) Private labeler--An organization that contracts with a manufacturer to produce approved or listed equipment which is to be sold under the organization's brand name.

  (7) Product standards--Standards for composition and testing of specific equipment used in the storage and handling of flammable liquids to achieve the purpose of the applicable primary standard. Recognized product standards are those established or approved by the following recognized organizations:

    (A) American National Standard Institute (ANSI), 1430 Broadway, New York, New York 10018;

    (B) American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), 1916 Race Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19103-1187;

    (C) Underwriters Laboratories, Incorporated (ULI), 333 Pfingston Road, Northbrook, Illinois 60062-2096;

    (D) Factory Mutual Research Corporation (FMRC), 1151 Boston-Providence Turnpike, Norwood, Massachusetts 02062.
