| (a) The governor shall have the power to grant one reprieve in any capital case for a period not to exceed 30 days. (Texas Constitution, Article IV, §11). (b) The governor shall have the power, upon the written and signed recommendation and advice of a majority of the board, to grant a reprieve in any capital case at any time after conviction. (c) The duration of a gubernatorial reprieve granted under subsection (b) of this section may be equal to, greater than, or less than 30 days, but in no event shall any such reprieve exceed the period recommended by the board.
