| RULE §9.3 | Release of Information on Accident Victims |
Public information. It is highly desirable to notify the next of kin of accident victims before releasing the name to the news media; however, department of public safety personnel will not withhold, or advise other officials to withhold, names of such victims from the news media once the officer has fully established the identities of the victims. In such cases, personnel should advise the news media representatives that the next of kin have not been notified. |
