| (a) Authority. Authority for this subchapter is provided in the Texas Education Code, §61.701 through §61.708. (b) Scope. The rules define applicable terms and provide the conditions for eligibility and repayment of education loans for persons who have received a doctoral degree on or after September 1, 1994, from an institution of higher education and are employed as a full-time faculty member with instructional duties in an institution of higher education that is located in a county that borders Mexico. (c) Purpose. The purpose of these rules is to implement the Border County Doctoral Faculty Education Loan Repayment Program in order to recruit and retain persons holding a doctoral degree to become and/or remain full-time faculty with instructional duties in Texas institutions of higher education located in counties that border Mexico. |
