| (a) Authority. Authority for this subchapter is provided in
the Texas Education Code, Subchapter M, Teach for Texas Financial Assistance
Program. These rules establish procedures to administer the subchapter as
prescribed in the Texas Education Code, §61.702.
(b) Scope. The rules set forth in this subchapter are applicable
to full-time classroom teachers at the preschool, primary, or secondary level
in a public school in this state in an area or field of acute teacher shortage
as designated by the Commissioner of Education.
(c) Purpose. The purpose of the Classroom Teacher Repayment
Assistance Program is to recruit and retain classroom teachers in communities
and subjects for which there is an acute shortage of teachers in Texas.
